Your Vendor Stack Is the Gym Membership of Data Infrastructure. Cancel It.

Your systems of record stay. Everything stacked on top of them can go.

You're presenting last month to the leadership team. Sales has one ARR number, Marketing has another, Finance has a third, and the analyst who built the deck isn't answering Slack. The five-minute recap just ate half the meeting. Somewhere, a spreadsheet named final_v7_REAL is still open.

Last week we talked about company amnesia. The next problem is just as time consuming: each department runs on its own language, definitions and assumptions. Sales lives in Salesforce, Marketing in HubSpot, CS in Planhat, Finance in QuickBooks. The problem is you need one trustworthy number, not four. Democracy is great, but it's a terrible way to calculate ARR.

The stack tax

The standard answer is to assemble a stack. Fivetran hauls the data out of your systems. Snowflake ingests it all and becomes the data layer. dbt sits on top to clean it and define the metrics. Power BI sits on top of that to draw the charts. Four products, four contracts, and a data team to hold them all together. On top of that, you still need point solutions for commissions calculations, marketing channel attribution…the list goes on.

DataFabrIQ replaces this entire stack with one platform: the pipeline, the database, the transformation, dashboards, and the point solutions. Just the one, for your entire business.

From raw data to numbers you'd sign

Inside DataFabrIQ, the three layers of the usual stack become one connected system. Each one replaces a tool you pay for today.

  • The operational data layer. Every deal, invoice, and journal entry lands in one place, exactly as it exists at the source. Nothing is edited on the way in. This replaces Snowflake and Fivetran, along with the monthly ritual of paying to move the same rows from one place to another.
  • The definitions. Your business rules the entire company agrees upon sit on top of that data: what counts as a customer, how finance counts MRR, which invoice belongs to which deal. They're written down once and run the same way every time. This replaces dbt and the glue work around it.
  • The dashboards. Tailored reports your team runs on, like the MRR rollforward, pipeline review, and daily P&L, are then built directly on those definitions. This replaces the BI tool that draws a lovely chart and has no idea where the number came from.

One number, and the receipts

Because all three live in one platform, any number on a dashboard can be clicked and traced back through the definition that produced it to the source records underneath. When Sales and Finance disagree on ARR, you don't schedule a meeting. You open the number and look at the definition.

Point solutions replaced too

Then there are the specialized tools to solve one problem at a time: a commissions calculator like QuotaPath, a planning and FP&A platform like Planful, a spreadsheet model for budget vs. actual. Each keeps its own copy of your data and its own rules, which makes each one another version of the truth to reconcile. Our customers sunset these.

DataFabrIQ takes the opposite approach: everything reads from the same definitions and encodes your actual rules, making every next workflow easier to implement. Once definitions exist, budget-vs-actual variance, monthly close and board reporting get built on numbers the business already trusts. Define ARR once and the commission run, the variance report and the board deck all use the same number. That is how DataFabrIQ replaces QuotaPath and Planful instead of sitting next to them.

What doesn't change

Salesforce, HubSpot, Planhat and QuickBooks stay exactly where they are. We connect to them and don't ask you to migrate off any of them. What goes away is the pile of tools and contracts you bought to make them agree with each other. Think of us as couples therapy for your software.

That's the real comparison. Not DataFabrIQ versus a BI tool, or a commissions tool, but versus the whole collection of them.
